                           Parts and Purchasing Assistant


Position Summary:

The position is responsible for stocking and maintaining inventory of the parts area.  This position is also responsible for assisting with various office support tasks such as filing, copying, coding invoices for payment.

Essential Functions:


  • Receive and count stock items, and record data manually or using computer.
  • Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock, and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors.
  • Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in parts room.
  • Clean and maintain parts room in order to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Dispose of damaged or defective items, or return them to vendors.
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports of inventories, price lists, shortages, shipments, expenditures, and goods used or issued.
  • Ability to effectively multi task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Recommend addition of new storeroom items, stocking levels, and disposal of excess, defective or obsolete stock.
  • Assist in the preparing invoices for Accounts Payable.
  • Must be able to lift 35lbs consistently.


Education, Experience and Skills:

Diploma or GED

  • Excel
  • MS Word
  • Access (or other database experience)
  • Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management system preferred
  • 3-5 years experience in purchasing and/or a parts room
